When to Seek Emergency Care

The easiest answer as to whether you should seek emergency care for a pet is when you feel his or her medical condition is serious and cannot wait. However, the following general situations help you determine when you should seek our emergency care for your pet:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Acute abdominal swelling
  • Electric shock
  • Excessive vomiting or diarrhea
  • Excessive bleeding
  • Exhibits symptoms of heat stroke
  • Repetitive and prolonged seizures
  • Snake bites
  • High or low temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees)
  • Unable to urinate or defecate

If your pet needs emergency care and your regular family veterinarian is not open please call, 603-643-6333 we are ready and waiting to help you and your pet.

Please be aware that upon arrival patients will be triaged by the nursing staff. Seriously ill pets may be seen first.

About Valley CARES

If your pet needs "intermediate care," such as monitoring after surgery or continued care for an ongoing illness, we are capable and willing to work as part of the overall health care team for your pet. You or your primary care veterinarian may call us at (603) 643-6333 to transfer a case for extended care. If you are transferring please bring any information that your primary veterinarian may have given you concerning the case (ie. medical records, radiographs, blood work).
